These loops give terry cloth an exceptional absorption capacity, allowing it to retain up to 1.5 times its weight in water. The weight of a bath sheet, expressed in grams per square meter (g/m²), typically ranges from 600g to 740g, ensuring a soft and plush texture.

Some terry cloths undergo a special treatment, such as shearing, which results in velour terry bath sheets that are particularly soft and pleasant to the touch. Larger than a standard bath towel, the typical bath sheet measures 90x150cm, providing optimal coverage.
