Choosing the correct size duvet cover

It’s important to choose the right size duvet cover for your mattress. A single bed means a duvet cover that’s 140x200cm in size, while double- and king-size beds require a duvet cover of 200x200cm, 240x220cm or even 260x240cm for the largest sizes. Fitted bed sheets also depend on the size of the mattress. For example, if your mattress measures 120x190x30 cm, your fitted sheet should be the same size. For pillows, two standard sizes exist: square pillows, which measure 65x65cm, and rectangular pillows, which measure 50x70cm.

Cotton percale, satin, linen: which fabric?

When it comes to choosing the right fabric for your duvet cover, the options are almost endless:

• Reinforced cotton: manufactured from cotton flowers, reinforced cotton is the industry standard with a thread count of 144.

• Cotton percale: higher quality than that of standard cotton, cotton percale owes its incredibly soft texture to its higher thread count (200 TC).

• Cotton sateen: tightly woven and silky soft to the touch, cotton sateen’s superior thread count (300 TC) make it highly sought-after in the luxury and hotel industry.
